The landscape of India's south is dotted with magnificent temples. Most of these temples were built by the medieval rulers of south India like Cholas, Chalukyas, Nayakas, Pallavas, Kakatiyas and Vijayanagar rulers. All of them had their own distinct architectural style of constructing the temples. Of the hundreds of south Indian temples, Meenakshi temple in Madurai, Rock Fort Temple in Thiruchirapalli, Tirupati Tirumala Balaji in Tirupati and Somnathpur Temple in Karnataka are the most popular.

Afternoon visit to Auroville-a unique experiment in international living and in creating a new environment where men and women of all nationalities live together in harmony. Afternoon drive to Thanjavur to view 15m high temple tower on a square base of 29m and then tapers off making a total of 66m. Check in and overnight stay at the hotel. | | | | Day 7 Thanjavur to Trichy | | | After breakfast, leave by surface for Trichy-situated on the banks of Kaveri River. It is famous for Ranganath temple at Srirangam. Check in at the hotel. Afternoon city tour visiting Rock fort. Then visit Srirangam and Jambukeshwar temple. | | | | Day 8: Trichy to Madurai | | | After breakfast proceed to Madurai. Check in at the hotel. This city is at the bank of river Vaigai with Meenakshi temple in the center. Afternoon city tour visiting Meenakshi temple, King Tirumalai's Palace, Great Tank and Gandhi Museum. Overnight stay at the hotel. | | | | Day 9: Madurai to Rameshwaram | | | After early breakfast, proceed for Rameshwaram - the most sacred temple town of India, where Lord Rama came before going into battle at Sri Lanka. One of the twelve Jyotirlingam shrines that are well known for its magnificent corridors and massive sculptured pillars is the main attraction of Rameshwaram. O/n in Madurai. | | | | Day 10 Madurai- Madaras-Departure | | Transfer to the airport to catch flight to Madras. Fly to Madras to get connected to next flight to onward destination.
