the nearest airports from Periyar.

Rail : Kottayam at
114 kms is the nearest railhead from Periyar.

Road : Kumily, the
nearest town from Periyar is well served by both state
and private buses from Kottayam, Ernakulam and Madurai
in Tamil Nadu.
And the last mile...
When you get off the Kumily main road and turn off from
the heart of the town onto the short road leading to the
sanctuary, keep your eyes on your left. You'll be there
in a minute if you're driving, and in 5 if you're walking.
You can't miss it.

Accommodation:
Did we say we'll make Periyar simple? That's what
we've done, from the ground up.
We took 10 of the most spacious rooms around and filled
them with all the comforts of home.
Then, we took it all and placed it in a simple stone
and exposed brick structure that uses natural materials
everywhere.
No two rooms at The Wildernest are the same.
And you can choose from two types:

Terraced rooms:
With spacious, open sit-outs upstairs.

Secret Gardens:
With an intimate little garden that offers total privacy
and seclusion.

Dining:
We believe in serving up
breakfasts fit for mountain appetites. And so, bright
and early each morning, you can choose from a groaning
table featuring hearty cereals, fresh breads, eggs to
order, a tropical fruit platter, home made peanut butter
and preserves, plus all the tea and coffee you want.
Enough to keep you trekking all day, actually!
Cuisine
It is best to discover your dining options while walking
down the road. It only takes a few minutes and you can
pick from Kerala, North Indian, Chinese and continental
dishes. Rates differ, based on the classiness of the
place, but clean and delicious options abound, at pretty
reasonable prices too.
